Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Bouquet of vanilla, gingerbread, fresh plums and tobacco on the nose, followed by a delicious combination of raisins, orange rind, hazelnut and hint of milk chocolate on the palate. Gentle oak spice finish is relatively short, but overall a great dram. A true classic Scotch and solid choice for those who appreciate unpeated sherried whiskys.

@ Generously Paul: I gave both a rating of 4 stars. If I had to choose only one, I would take the Macallan 12 Sherry Oak because I find it better than similar whiskys coming from other distilleries (not to mention the fact that this bottling it is impossible to find in Canada now). I found the Double Oak tasty, smooth and balanced, but a bit light for me. It is also very similar to a lot of whisky coming out of the Highlands and Speyside. However, I would never refuse a bottle of the Double Oak :)
I found the double cask to be a cut above this one. Not that this was bad by any means
