When I taste this... I can taste that it's not perfect... But it's too luscious to give 4 stars. That rye, medicinal, but smooth offering maple syrup and then that toasty malted barley, with its light smoky vanilla notes. It's delicious, with caramel, the taste of yummy stewed fruit. This is finally the first Canadian whisky that I have enjoyed. Distiller.com is filled with Canadian whisky that is supposedly great, but impossible to find here, I almost gave up trying Canadian whisky and so this was such a nice surprise. It's a pretty unique experience, finding so much malt and rye together and it's one I adore!

Honestly, Bourbons are usually what I reach for because of the boldness and occasional harshness. I haven't explored Canadians much yet though, not outside of a couple Crowns, and my favorite of those so far is definitely the Rye.
@DevilBeats Well... Whisky generally doesn't go off, it can, but that's rare. Secondly, whisky can vary from bottle to bottle, but that's less likely with mass produced whisky like this and more common in small batch and single barrel whisky, I've tried this whisky in a bar and it tasted exactly the same. Yes, the wood, the alcohol and the rye are sharp, but there is softness and sweetness behind it, maybe Canadian and even USA whisky isn't your style, I have tried many Canadian whiskys and only two were my style. US and Canada whisky has harsher American oak that is often charred and has rye which many French people avoid here, to be honest, I am one of the few Anglo-French people brave enough to have rye whisky.
I really feel like I could enjoy this if the sweeter flavors weren't hiding under sharp alcohol and wood, but I just couldn't get past it. Maybe I got an off bottle or something? Or maybe my palate's just different.
