This is just pure innovative science. It's amazing how they get a sooty, ashy aroma upfront, only to be married to a sweeter palette of dates, figs, salt and citrus, and have the finish long citrusy with a mild tinge of sweet pears, with a slight trail of cigars. Yes, my favorite Ardbeg (or top 5 all time, for that matter) was the Ardbeg 21, but this is just amazing bang for the buck, and in its own right a category developer. A must try for anyone---regardless if you're a fan of Islay or not. Thanks to Davie for the generous sample!!!

Again another review i missed! I've got too much in my feed these days...!
Save that Ardbeg 21 for special occasions----that one is a gem and a masterclass on how a great Islay whisky should be made.
This is also an overwhelming favorite in my home as well. There is so much character in this bottle it could keep you preoccupied for a long time. I have a bottle stored away and since I have so many new-to-me bottles staring at me I think the Uig will be safe for some time. It seems like I develop a craving for it once I've had 3-4 drams of something else, while being slightly buzzed, and I talk myself out of it because I feel like it'll be wasted while in that current state. Lol. As for that Ardbeg 21, I haven't revisited it since that night I popped it open to share with you because I know with each dram it gets closer and closer to the bottom. That will be a truly sad day around here. Cheers, Pranay.
