Whisky Friday....get to finally have my end of week Dram!!! So this evening is a sample generously provided by Modern Drinking---thank you!! I think I've found the perfect combo in whisky. It's peat and port. Goes together like peanut butter and jelly. This is hands down the best Cairdeas I've had...all are really good, but I think this one is a step ahead of the rest. The nose greets you with plums and cigar smoke. I can smell this all day. Taste is a smooth fruit forward with a healthy backbone of smoke and ash. The smoke really plays well with the port finish. One doesn't outshine the other, but together they're just perfect. I think these aren't available anymore, so I'm that much more thankful to sample it. Thanks again to Modern Drinking for the chance.

Yeah, you're right---can't go,wrong with any of the Cairdeas. They're all amazingly made. At this point, it's splitting hairs on which is better; even value for money, one of the better buys
The 2015 is very good -- less sweet than the others. But they're like one's children -- it's hard to pick a favorite. I love them all.
Lee: funny---I think I'm in the same boat...I probably have these Cairdeas somewhere, buried in a stash. I end up buying bottles, but since I consume so little, I never get around to opening majority of it, and it remains in a dusty shelf in the basement. I need to conduct a full inventory one of these days
I had a sample of this last summer and I also thought it was miles ahead of the 2014. Since, I've had the 2016 and I don't believe the 2013 has yet to be really challenged by any other Cairdeas to date. My bottle of 2015 is buried behind the bar somewhere and I don't think I'll be opening it soon unless I can line up a 4-way tasting of the 2013-2016. That would be an awesome whisky flight for sure. Cheers, great review Pranay.
