Single Pot Still — Ireland

It's a nice full bodied whiskey with the classic Irish pot still traits of cereal notes, licorice, caramel, and vanilla. At first the dram begins quite nicely with a strong oaky burn thats incredibly lengthy and dry. However, as with most iterations of young pot still, when it opens up the oomph of this whiskey gives way for something basic in which I think this whiskey falls apart. I'm rating this 4 starts because shortly after I drank some thin watery Elijah Craig, and you could feel the difference in mouthfeel no problem!

For what's its worth, it's definitely different from the 12 year old, but as I've reviewed, once it sits in the glass for about a half hour it sort of loses it.
Based on the one glass that I ordered, I was put at ease to know that I didn't need to buy the bottle. However I would love to try the both of them side by side for a more immediate and reliable comparison. I do think it deserves to sit right next to the 12 year old and Green Spot on the shelf, and not higher.
I have been curious about this one as I enjoy the 12. In your opinion, is this worth a markup of ~$20 over the 12 year old? In other words, is it on par with the 12 or $20 better than the 12?
