Definitely on the sweeter side of bourbon. Excellent, especially for the price. It feels like a higher quality whiskey that I don't feel bad mixing with!
The taste I get is sweet with burnt brown sugar, salted caramel, corn, apricot, prunes, and toast. Toast? I think. The flavors are a tad rough underneath a slightly sharp alcohol, but it's manageable, simple, and easy to drink.

I think Bowmore 12 has French toast on the nose, so not too crazy :) This is high on the list of bourbons that I want to try next.
But if you can ever try Blanton's Gold Label, go ahead, it's sweet and delicious, it is a real treat, very unusual for a bourbon, I know you like whiskey strong, like me I suppose, but this is great. Eagle Rare is impressive, but quite austere, bold and savoury.
Toast seems to be a common whisky note, I guess it's the grain and grilled flavour from malt that gives that taste. As for the Buffalo Trace distillery, they are among the very first quality American whiskeys to break into the French market with Eagle Rare and Blanton's, they love a traditional and an experimental approach to whisky, so Blanton's is very 1950s while Sazerac, a rye I am dying to try is very 19th century... I'd love to try more, including this.
