The first thing we need to address is just how laughable the color is: tawny, which means there's almost no doubt in my mind coloring was added here. Mind you, it's not impossible some of the sherry casks that were obviously used to age this whiskey played a large role in the color, since it clearly did so in the taste. There are elements of dates, old wood and nutmeg here, with the finish exhibiting notes of tobacco and pepper. The finish is quite nice and long, but I have to admit I have a difficult time enjoying this spirit.

100% natural color from the oak, Joe! It's thanks to our unique terroir (read: climate) and the specialty barrels we use that we're able to get such a mature whisky in a relatively short time. I hope you'll give this one another chance down the road, we're always working hard to make our spirits even better.
I stand corrected.
No coloring or sherry casks used in this
it's not coloured. the following is taken from their website: This is authentic craft whisky. It has not been chill-filtered, colored or otherwise unnecessarily tampered with to ensure that its full aroma and flavor are preserved.
Yeah I'm off to Texas in several weeks and was going to buy a bottle or two from this distillery but I ordered tasters instead. I'm glad I did as I looked at the colouring on one sample and thought man that is not natural!
