I have to side more with the distiller review on this one. Faint peat forms a base, oak has mellowed the new make, hint of vanilla and contrasting bitternes, tea, leather tar. It's an acquired taste but the more I drank the more I got into it. I'd rate it mid 3's and at $250 USD that makes it not VFM.

All good :-). I find Benriach's in general don't seem to hold up that well over time once the bottle is open for a while. Perhaps because the new make is quite thin and doesn't really retain the cogners that well once oxidation sets in? Just about can't go wrong with anything Glendronach if you're after something special...but I'm biased :-)
Thanks, much appreciated. I swim more in the $50-100 range (priciest I've bought is HP18), so just curious whether it was worth a special buy.
The peat is light definitely no stronger than a talisker 10. It's quite a different flavour profile though. Younger pepper, peat and brine vs a more mellow older experience. Personally I wouldn't spend that but I'd say I'd be in the minority. It would depend what your budget is. If you routinely buy bottles in that price range then go for, however if you rarely spend that much and your after a very special bottle then I wouldn't bother unless for potential resale perhaps.
Any thoughts on how this compares to Talisker or other moderately peated scotches? Wondering if it's worth buying at $150-200 in London.
