In a 7 bourbon taste test (no Jack nor Makers involved) at my friend's in-house bar, Blanton's was a narrow victor. Four Roses Single Barrel was in the mix as was Knob Creek. Others that faired really well were Bulleit and Woodford Reserve. It's tough to pick the top performer when you thoroughly enjoy the genre. My friend considers Blanton's to be "snooty". I declared my vote was solely based on flavor not cost. The smokey spice leads to a rich, sweet and smooth finish gently highlighting the other characteristics of a high quality bourbon. This is one of my sipping favorites. Enjoy ice free. Why dilute deliciousness?
