Happy New Year Distiller people. Onwards to many more interesting drams!
Today I picked something a bit more on the friendly side - had a Lagavulin night and needed some contrast. This one is pretty much on the other end of the spectrum when when it comes to scotch. On the nose you are greeted with a lot of honey, some vanilla and heavy cream notes and a dash of pepper. Actually sounds like an awesome dessert cream...maybe with some shortbread biscuits? Anyway...taste keeps what smell promises. Honey, pepper, vanilla, the usualy malty barley notes and a dash of salt to pull everything together. Very enjoyable, if Dalwhinnie really doesn't get more attention that would be a shame. Because this is a good, friendly highland whisky, with a long, honeyed finish. Perfect for days when you need something sweet.

Austria, that’s cool. Cheers and Happy New Year!
@Rick_M Damn^^ 40 days is hard. I'm gonna have to not drink anything for a couple of months this year for medical reasons, but until then I'm gonna enjoy what I can. As for weddings, Austria does not recognize anything non official, so I'd need to get over to the states to marry some people together. Should be able to find somebody in vegas for sure^^
@LeeEvolved yep, I think this would be the scotch I offer newcomers from now on. So far the Balvenie 14 filled this spot (worked fine too).
Well, you will have to officiate 2 weddings to beat my record. In MA you can apply for a 1-day license with the Governor’s office to perform a wedding. I did this for my niece at their request. I also abstained from drinking for 40 days prior. That was the hardest part. :)
Nice review, Reverend. This is one of the most non-offending scotches I think I’ve ever had and like you stated- there is a prefect time and place when it hits the spot. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Thanks, I. Neither, actually. Was drunk one day and decided it would be a good idea to go online and buy the title of ordained minister and Reverend, because reasons. Since it was a perfect fit for a role playing character of mine at the time it kinda stuck as a nickname online. I do believe in God, just not professionally.
You’re getting good at this. Are you really a man of the cloth or just pray a lot? :)
