My first taste of what Buffalo Trace has to offer, and I am impressed. This is a great bourbon for the price. Somewhat different than the many other bourbons I've tried along the way, although my repertoire is still in its fledgling phase. Drunk the entire bottle neat, as I often do. Front notes are candy sweet and of very intense cherry; reminds me of those heart shaped lollipops, but I mean that in the best way possible! It lacks the buttery, nutty flavors I often look for in a bourbon, but makes up for it with fruitier expressions. I'm getting apple and plum on the finish. Little to no spice. The sweetness means it's heavy on the palate but finishes smoothly without the cloying effect I was expecting. Would not be my go to, but enjoyable nonetheless.
