Had my eye on this one for a while. Not sure if it was the bottle or what, but I opened this guy with high expectations. All in all, a slightly above average to good bourbon. As with most reviews on here, the Distiller description is quite accurate. More complex than some on the market, but nothing remarkable. I found it a little hot on the approach but mellowed to a very smooth, sweet finish. Not worth the $50 I paid for it. For a little more punch, and to save twenty bucks, I'd take knob any day49.99 USD per Bottle

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2018 (edited March 8, 2018)One of the first bourbons I got hooked on. At 100 proof, she has got some heat. Very spicy; black and red pepper, with mace provide a good burn. I find myself checking the bottle to make sure I haven't picked up their rye by mistake. Some nuttier notes appear once the initial burn has subsided, which leave a slight sweetness that round out this bourbon well. The burn never fully disappears though. Nonetheless, it still has a clean finish. For the price, I buy this one with some regularity. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2018 (edited February 17, 2018)My first taste of what Buffalo Trace has to offer, and I am impressed. This is a great bourbon for the price. Somewhat different than the many other bourbons I've tried along the way, although my repertoire is still in its fledgling phase. Drunk the entire bottle neat, as I often do. Front notes are candy sweet and of very intense cherry; reminds me of those heart shaped lollipops, but I mean that in the best way possible! It lacks the buttery, nutty flavors I often look for in a bourbon, but makes up for it with fruitier expressions. I'm getting apple and plum on the finish. Little to no spice. The sweetness means it's heavy on the palate but finishes smoothly without the cloying effect I was expecting. Would not be my go to, but enjoyable nonetheless. -
Discovered this rum on my first, of what would become many trips, to Puerto Rico. Beautiful example of what Puerto Rican rum can be. As I understand it, the family does not distill the rum themselves, but rather personally selects a blend of Bicardi's finest and ages them to their specifications. Light and sweet, yet has enough body to let the complexities shine. There is a spiciness (allspice, cinnamon) to it that brings outs some woodier notes, leaving a relatively dry finish with a little heat. I typically drink this neat but it also makes a mean cuba libre. I buy no fewer than 3 bottles when I make the trip down there as this rum is very difficult to find in my area (Philly). While in PR, you can easily snag a bottle at the local Walgreens for about $20. The island and this rum have a special place in my heart.
