I’ve had several family friends that have sworn this was the best thing since sliced bread, so,naturally I had to give it a shot. Granted, these same family friends are white wine and rose drinkers, so that should’ve clued me in from the get-go. But, I was meeting a friend this evening over drinks, and I saw this on the shelf. I figured now’s a good time as any to trust the palette of a white wine or rose drinker in sugggesting what classifies as good bourbon. This ain’t it. I was hoping for some depth and oomph...sort of like what I’d get out of an Elijah Craig barrel proof. Nope. It’s pulling it’s punches. Has the vanilla and oak, but a tad too weak. Has the caramel, but faint. I think this is maybe $60 or so? I can spend that $60 better else where. The lesson learned: if a rose drinker tells you that there’s a bourbon you absolutely must try...don’t. It’s like if you were to tell the rose drinker there’s a rose he/she absolutely must try. That opinion ain’t worth a rat’s ass.

LOL My kind of review!
To each their own, I personally enjoy Maker’s 46 for what it is- a $35 bottle of tasty wheated bourbon:) nothing too crazy here, but worth it for that price, though I wouldn’t spend $60 on it!
@worldwhiskies95 I need To follow you here. Get a few drams in me, and you’re gonna be a real fun read.
The red wine, whisky, and mezcal person not liking the whisky suggestion from white wine and rose drinkers while the white whine and rose drinkers don't like the whisky recommendation from the red wine, whisky, and mezcal person demonstrates how everyone's tastes are different. Interestingly, I have had a few wines as my mom loves wine and they had good flavors but its taste demonstrated that if I want wine I may as well have grape juice at room temperature. Sparkling wine I don't mind though as at least it has the fizz I like. I like drinking whisky, tequila, rum, cognac, armagnac, spicy cocktails, tart cocktails, classic cocktails like old fashioneds, sazeracs, manhattans, rob roys (not yet), etc, and sometimes mezcal.
🤣🤣🤣
@Generously_Paul funny. I’m usually thinking that when a team member gives me an opinion at work. But...that saying as a broader applicability, I can see that.
Or perhaps you just take the Tywin Lannister approach...”The lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of sheep”
@Generously_Paul you’re kinda right...I actually told that family friend that she absolutely needs to try Ardbeg 10. She did. She spat it out and later texted me that she just felt as if she licked an ash tray.
It would appear that the whisky snob isn’t too fond of the wine snobs 😆
