Jack Daniel's Old No. 7

Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA

Reviewed April 28, 2018 (edited October 7, 2018)

2.0 out of 5 stars
Nose: The nose is quite welcoming and sweet, like a summertime dessert. (This is probably the best part of the whiskey if I'm being honest.) There are strong notes of banana and vanilla with lesser notes of corn and a bit of smoke. Taste: The palate is good but not remarkable. Sweet with various fruits, predominantly banana matching the nose. It also has vanilla and oaky char notes. There's a long finish with a bit of heat closing the show. Opinion: To my understanding some folks seem to avoid the big "mainstream" names in the whiskey world, and Jack Daniel's is one of the biggest. I personally have nothing against this as those brands are probably big for a reason. Now, is this dram going to be one of my favorites? No. But in my opinion it's a good dram for the price for sure mixed or neat, and as one of the largest names in the world for one of the smallest niches in whiskey, (Tennessee whiskey) that is something to be proud of, so good work Jack! Sláinte!
