The nose starts out too artificial with caramel apples, chemically and super glue, mixed with plum and apricot. The palate is hot, obviously has notes of apples but is also astringent and tangy. The finish isn’t too bad, reminiscent of brown butter but then it tapers off quickly. This style of whiskey being made with apples seems like a stretch of a niche, but though it might be good when done well, this product was clearly not that.

Still Austin The Musician Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 19, 2026 (edited April 14, 2026)The nose was sweet and rich with notes of hot cinnamon, brown sugar syrup, caramel, Christmas chocolate orange, dusty corn pits in the fall, cherries and plums. Sweetness mirrored the nose with an autumnal palate of cherry pull apart Twizzlers, cinnamon candy, and red apples. The finish was warm but not hot, and sweet but not too sweet, it lingered but wasn’t clingy. Like Goldilocks it seemed just right. This might be my new favorite bourbon for a while. -

The nose was a tough balance of sweet and floral on one side with a touch of paint thinner on the other. The palate was the same kind of balancing act of metallic with notes of cherry and vanilla, but overall bland. The finish burned then tapered off into a waxiness. It wasn’t the worst bourbon I’ve had, but Odysseus and I were not impressed.

King's Creek Black Label Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed July 1, 2025Dusty old bookstore with its treasures greet the nose, with notes of pumpkin patch corn pit, lemon zest, sweet caramel candy rounding out the bouquet. The palate is simple with red apple and orange citrus notes. The finish is short and syrupy. Not great but not bad either. -
The nose starts out like Everclear and with sharp bright notes, but fades into more enjoyable evergreen, dusty corn, and brown sugar, cotton candy tastes. The palate matches the nose with it being bright, young, and sappy, then honey sweet. The finish is bitter and morphs into a sweetness. The motif of this whiskey is it starts bad then hides behind a sweet disguise. I don’t recommend it.

Lonehand Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed December 15, 2024 (edited December 16, 2024)The nose pops with super glue or adhesive fumes, then a second chance generously gifts a note of artificial cherry like in the pull apart Twizzlers, The palate begins watery and unpleasant but blessedly improves into the finish, but not by much. The finish is tangy but veiled; it leaves you wanting (specifically, a better whiskey.) I poured the rest of my glass into some eggnog, hopefully that will improve it. *sips* Yes, that did the trick.
