MountainRoot

Bushmills Black Bush

Blended — Ireland

Reviewed May 6, 2018 (edited July 28, 2019)
3.0
3.0 out of 5 stars
Nose: The nose is great and very welcoming! Heavily buttered cinnamon toast greets you first; overripe apple notes are present as well as sourdough bread. And as I'm smelling this, I'm reminded of two thoughts: breakfast oatmeal and pizza crust. Regardless, the nose on this Irish whiskey is delicious. Taste: For me, the first thing on the palate to register is orange citrus. I also find notes of breakfast biscuits, and there is a note of Trolli gummy candy that I thought was strange but fun. The finish has a little kick hitting the back of your throat then fades into calm silence. Opinion: I have never had a whiskey alongside breakfast personally. But if I did, this I think, would make a great breakfast whiskey. All the food notes would compliment a hearty breakfast nicely. I like this whiskey. It may not be top shelf, but the quality for the price tag is pretty rad. Sláinte!

@BeppeCovfefe If there is a way to keep it from getting soggy until you pour it out, I'd be all over that idea!

Thanks @cascode! I enjoy sharing what I love about whiskies with others and learning from what others have experienced too! I would like to be experienced enough to be a sommelier or some sort of professional in whiskey one day. Cheers, sir!

Cinnamon toast crunch cereal in a bottle, such a wonderful idea!

Great review. Cinnamon toast had not occurred to me before, but once you said it, it was obvious.
