After cracking my first bottle of aberlour 12 I left it for a moment to sit and breathe before nosing.
Nose : A sweet strawberry flavour immediately comes to nose, some vanilla. The longer it sits the more dark chocolate notes come through.
Palate : The nose seems to be picking up more flavours than what the palate is, I’ve lost the strawberry and can faintly taste some dark red fruits and spices.
Finish : short-medium, the finish is more spices, and the fruit is fading further away.
Overall first taste is quite underwhelming, after nosing this whisky I was expecting a huge flavour bomb. Nonetheless quite and easy whisky to drink, curious to see how it develops the longer it is open.
