Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 15, 2018 (edited June 13, 2018)After cracking my first bottle of aberlour 12 I left it for a moment to sit and breathe before nosing. Nose : A sweet strawberry flavour immediately comes to nose, some vanilla. The longer it sits the more dark chocolate notes come through. Palate : The nose seems to be picking up more flavours than what the palate is, I’ve lost the strawberry and can faintly taste some dark red fruits and spices. Finish : short-medium, the finish is more spices, and the fruit is fading further away. Overall first taste is quite underwhelming, after nosing this whisky I was expecting a huge flavour bomb. Nonetheless quite and easy whisky to drink, curious to see how it develops the longer it is open. -
Glenlivet 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 2, 2018 (edited September 1, 2019)First 18 year old scotch, so please excuse if my palate is not as matured as others. Nose - Vanilla and oak on the nose, I’m struggling to find the sugary/sweet smell. Love the vanilla though ! Palate - After a few mouthfuls I’ve found the oak very apparent with orange (sweet) coming out. Finish - A very long finish, even minutes after I’m getting a mouthful of sweety goodness. No burn, not sure what to have expected from an 18 year old, for the price this is very delish.
