Part 3 of 4:
Color: The color on this single barrel is a beautiful mahogany or henna brown. The legs appear viscous and don’t leave for a while!
Nose: The nose on this bourbon is so good! It contained notes of brown sugar and spices, oak, vanilla, honeysuckle, ginger, and mowed lawn. The Single Barrel probably has my favorite nose from the Four Roses lineup.
Taste: The palate contains notes of honey, oak, almonds, and buttered breakfast toast. When adding a few drops of water notes of cherry and chocolate powder came forth.
Finish: The finish is lingering but the initial impact is refreshing and crisp, almost minty.
Thoughts: This is a fine bourbon and if you are one who enjoys the standard Four Roses, you may very well find it worth paying the extra for this Single Barrel offering. I can see why this would be a number of folks’ go-to bourbon! Sláinte!
