Nose: So (for me personally who has not yet had much experience with peated whiskies) the nose starts right off the bat with peat and brine. There also lies notes of wood and car exhaust. The nose is not the worst but boring; one or two notes that really stand out.
Taste: The palate matches the nose as kinda boring but with salty brine on the tongue and in the finish. There are also notes of plum or cherry in there. The finish lingers and also leaves me with cardamom spice.
Opinion: I can see why and agree that this scotch should primarily used as a mixer. Now, it's not going to kill you, and if someone poured me a dram of this neat I would drink it and be grateful. In my humble opinion though, if you want a peated scotch for mixed drinks, go for it! But if you want a stand alone scotch, I would keep looking. Sláinte!
