Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

I don’t get it. Why would this be limited to outside the US only? Makes no sense...this can be right up there with Elijah Craig single barrel cask strength or Four Roses LESB releases. Amazing aroma of sweet caramel, oranges, and some oak. Taste doesn’t pull any punches...thick viscous, oranges and brown sugar. Some heat...with a lingering long orange citrus finish. Till today, I think the best bourbon I’ve had was the Four Roses 2016 LESB, but this falls close second. Thanks @Dreaming-of-Islay for the pour!

I agree, the BP blantons is phenomenal - all around, one of my top favorites ever. As far as BT limiting its availability to outside the US; it seems counterintuitive to ideas in which the whole bourbon invention was founded upon. 🤷🏼♂️
It's my favorite of the Blanton lot. Its ~ $90 here in nz and great value for money in a bourban crazed worth. Just behind Noah's mill in VFM stakes. Also Mikael has heard our prayers. The latest news letter said all the good stuff we are getting back e.g. ability to modify reviews, filter for tasting notes, our reviews up top when reviewing. :-)
@PBMichiganWolverine - I think the issue with that is that Sazerac Co. doesn't actually own the rights to Blanton's, which also explains why this bottle is only distributed overseas. Buffalo Trace makes Blanton's for Age International, a Japanese co. that owns the rights to the name and distributes it overseas. I suppose the question is, has anyone at Sazerac suggested to their Age counterparts that it would make a lot of sense to make this available in the U.S. and put it under the BTAC umbrella?
@Dreaming-of-Islay. I would’ve thought, especially in this whiskey craze climate, that if it was a de facto 6th bottle, it would’ve already have been done and priced accordingly. There’s marketing and pricing pros that probably thought of it already and judged against it for whatever reasons. Either way...works out for me.:. I’ll be buying a bottle of this. Was simply amazing
@PBMichiganWolverine I've heard people say this is the de facto 6th bottle of the BTAC, and others disagree. Based on having tried several Staggs and Wellers from the BTAC, I don't think this one quite measures up.
@worldwhiskies95. Exactly...the bourbons there are all much older
@PBMichiganWolverine Thomas H Handy 6 yr, George T Stagg 15, William Larue Weller 12, Eagle Rare 17, Sazerac 18
@worldwhiskies95 can it? Aren’t the bourbons in btac in their low to mid teens? This is highly aromatic and taste amazing, but i don’t think it’s got enough grey hairs on it
@PBMichiganWolverine This could be in BTAC if it wanted to. If you look on winesearcher.com, there are a few stores in the US that sell this, most likely because the owners of those stores have very good connections.
