Port Ellen 32 Year 1979 (2012 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 6, 2020 (edited February 3, 2022)So..... I Found out I’m physically allergic to alcohol (and no I don’t break out in handcuffs 🥴). I Won’t be able to taste this bad boy or participate in this site any longer. It’s been real. Cheers! ☕️ -
$50 for a half bottle- sign me up. I wish they all had 1/2 bottles available - anyway: this stuff is good. If you like old scotch you will like this. The finish is classic dewars smoke - but the mouth feel and complexity are excellent. Do I know it’s a blend? Yeea. Do I know it contains grain and whatnot? Yeea. Do I like it? Fuk yeea. Buy and you won’t be disappointed...... on a side note - for the cost of the damn super nice sexy packaging they could have probably offered a full bottle at this price. 🥃🤘🏼🥴

Pretty damn impressive. -Not a whisky for the purest in you - but as a fun sipper this stuff is pretty great; it really has a great great mouth entry - you eyes will widen like “wow! what is this stuff???” It’s extremely complex for the price tag - my only gripe is the sugary finish; which is to be expected with additives. This is definitely worth picking up for friends to share and sip on - a nice whiskey party favor.

Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Pure Malt
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed December 8, 2019 (edited January 3, 2020)I’m a bit underwhelmed by this one - I snagged a bottle not knowing what to expect; I’v read reviews with the words “habiki 21” peppered throughout - .. I gotta say that’s not accurate in my eyes; habiki 21 is extremely refined; it has depth, has a deliberate uniform profile with elements of cherry, chocolate, and other wood - Nikka has a few echoes of habiki, however it’s not as pure- to me this basically tastes like habiki mixed with Johnny walker black. 🤷🏼♂️ -
Arran Sauternes Cask Finish Single Malt
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 17, 2019 (edited December 8, 2021)Had this next to glenfiddich 21 - this took the cake. Rich oily mouth feel- sweet and complex palate, very dessert esq. (with many of the notes others listed 🥴) and the best part of this whisky: the Finish - it lasts forever. . Try it and you won’t be disappointed Knowing what I know now about the depths of scotch - the whole “-pappy-“ thing can eat a dick - with a magical $60 bottle like this; forget standing in lines -practically overnight- competing against rabid millennial bourbon nerdo fanboys- I’ll choose the comfort of my home with a freshly packed bowl and a nice smooth scotch any day. 🤷🏼♂️🥃 -
Chattanooga Whiskey Cask 111
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2019 (edited February 8, 2020)No... just no. I bought this bottle with high hopes and it let me down, WAY down. Imagine buying a bottle of Jack Daniels, opening and letting it sit out in the sun for a few months - that’s what I’m picking up here. It’s a funky, stale, metallic, version of jack (which I enjoy); not interesting, and not even palatable. It’s like jack Daniels mixed with pepto bismol and fermented prune juice. I poured this out after a few sips. 👎🏼 (refund please!) -
This stuff is flipping killer- love at first drink. Well... not exactly true.. I was 23 out of school and had a house on a lake (well across the street from a lake) but I had a boat slip and a boat, I felt accomplished then,... well until I spent the next 15 years getting beaten down with the brass knuckles of the real world that turns your optimism, idealism, and scholastic knowledge into bitter bitter wisdom though failure, pain, mistakes, doubt, the relentless pursuit of success - and saying in so many different ways “fuck you - I won’t let this system or any one of you hold me down”. ; so: .. I’m super happy about all of it; having had experiences that many wouldn’t even believe if I told you.. (you might be asking yourself - where is this guy going with this?) when I was 23 I would take the boat over to this fancy restaurant in Michigan called “matter of taste” - at the time they had quite the expensive liquor collection- and better yet; my college roommate and best friend was the bartender there. I recall getting oban (free, and everything else) and I recall liking it (on ice) - but my go to at the time was chivas which I can barely choke down today. I don’t know why I liked it, but it seemed legit- however I was in no mind set to appreciate it like I can today. Here I am 18 years later buying a bottle - and holy crap is it good. The nose is pretty sexy, with a slight butterscotch lemon zest- but the palate; it tastes like s’mores, butterfinger, and raisins. But most excitingly it goes down like a chocolate shake mixed with Cayenne pepper and Coca Cola- fantastic. Smooth upon entry and fireworks on the way down. 👌🏼 I wish I could go back and have a chat with my 23 year old self and say - “lose the ice kid, let it move around your mouth and the whiskey will tell you an amazing story”.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 12, 2019 (edited September 29, 2020)So my screen name is from college, I studied biomedical science and Austin Powers had just come out; my reference was from the part where Dr. Evil was asking Scott about his future plans like running a petting zoo.. "an Evil petting zoo?" Dr. Evil exclaimed. I added it to my email - and it never went away. Back to booze: I grabbed this bottle because everything i’v had from Glenmorangie has been pretty darn good - and ...this whiskey happens to follow suit- the mouth feel during the finish is exceptional - its velvety and delicious. My only complaint is the nose - it's a little jumbled, its fruity and funky - specifically; it has a dried apricot note which I never equate to quality - I have a bunch of ice wines and the bogus tasting note for lower end bottles is apricot - So Im' unequivocally bias; considering some people may enjoy that element. Anywhoooo... this is good stuff and definitely great VFM. Cheers
