Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Color: It's about time I tried this straight bourbon. I got some for some friends and I to share over a camping trip this past weekend! The color on this whiskey is an old oak bark or dark amber. The legs are thin but seem pretty oily.
Nose: On the nose I'm picking up brown sugar, oak and corn notes, a funky almost sweaty note, salt, and honeysuckle. I'm also getting dill pickles and banana notes after a while too.
Taste: On the palate I get notes of dark chocolate, oak, and cinnamon, with a sour green apple in there as well.
Finish: The finish has a mint and black tea flair but doesn't last too long.
Thoughts: This bourbon has a long history and I pray they will have a much longer one. Claiming the first distillery in the state of Kentucky is no small claim. So for that, good on you! This bourbon may not be the best, but it is good! Definitely worth a try and no shame being a go-to. Evan Williams, thanks. And to everyone else, cheers!

Good advice @BDanner . Good advice. I will keep my eyes open.
...but a flight is NEVER a bad idea.
@MountainRoot , I don't know about prefer...but for $16 you would be hard pressed to find a better bourbon than the EWBIB. The EW Single Barrel is good, just not as good as it was when it was a full 10 years (if you can find a bottle of the 2015 barreled in 2005, jump on it).
@BDanner , you say you prefer the Bottled in Bond over the single barrel when it comes to Evan Williams? Hmm. I sense a whiskey flight taking shape.
@Generously_Paul , I would love to try both of those! Especially the single barrel; It's on my wishlist actually.
Oh, that EW BIB is special. I've been a little disappointed with the Single Barrel offerings after the '05. I don't think I've bought one since my state started carrying Henry McKenna Single Barrel.
Definitely pick up the white label BiB. Only a couple bucks more and so much better. Of course the single barrel is where it’s at though.
