Another great offering from Lagavulin. Peat smoke and sea salt on the nose. On the palate, it's citrus and vanilla. Less depth and complexity than the 16, but enjoyable in its own right. On the finish, the chocolate notes present in the 16 are detectable. It's got a good punch; a little bit of a burn. Overall, this is solid stuff. The youth is masked to a degree by the ABV. If you like the 16, this one is worth a try. It's unique enough to warrant a purchase; and, though I prefer the 16, I must say that this 8 year is worthy of the Lagavulin name. 4-4.5 stars.
