Damnit. I meant not to buy this. Now that I’m back to one pour / week, I really need to reduce my acquisition rate. Else, 450 bottles will quickly become 800. I had a small sample of this at a large chain wine store, and immediately fell in love with it. This is a 13 yr single sherry cask Highland Park...something you don’t see often. At $200, yes, expensive...but it’s NCF, single cask, sherry HP with an age statement. But, more importantly, it’s the taste of this that wowed me. Aroma of black cherries and sweet icing. On palette, very lightly smoked, with floral taste...raspberries, some salt. Really well made. I ended up getting a bottle...

@PBMichiganWolverine I’d be interested in checking your collection out as well. Maybe even purchase a few bottles. My email is [email protected] thanks!
@PBMichiganWolverine Sweet thanks!
@worldwhiskies95 @Soba45 just sent you guys an email
@PBMichiganWolverine My email is [email protected]
@Soba45 yeah—just for kicks, I’ll send my Collection PDF. About 500 bottles I think at last count. What’s your email?
@PBMichiganWolverine For pure interest reasons I'd be very interested to see that PBM if you don't mind. I'd just find it fascinating to see everything you have collected :-)
@PBMichiganWolverine Yeah same in NZ. I was thinking maybe not in NZ but definitely in the USA if you set up a whisky auction house you'd kill it (subject to getting around state laws i guess). I sometimes see gaps in the market like this and think if I had a large bunch of money I could capitalize on this. Alternately could you contact the uk auction houses and arrange an overseas shipment?
@Generously_Paul yeah—discount applies. Honestly—-not looking into making a profit, just selling knowing I can’t ever get to it. I can send you a MSWord of what I have, along with the ones I don’t want to sell highlighted ( like the Broras, Hanyus, old Macallans and Karuizawas)
@PBMichiganWolverine I know that myself, @LeeEvolved and @Telex would love to get a chance at those bottles you have squirreled away. Assuming the SDT members only discount applies 🤑
@Soba45 For me, I realized that I truly appreciated it when I had only 1 / week. I looked forward to it. So, just going back to those roots. On the downside...I’d love to unload at least 75% of my 500 bottles. Unfortunately in the US, there’s no readily available middle man to run whiskey auction houses, that I know of at least
@Richard-ModernDrinking yeah, if I had to buy one, this would fall on that short list. But, it’s a bit pricey at $200. I got it at Total Wine.
Interesting. I've resolved to buy only one bottle a month, but will put this on the shortlist for November. I've seen a flurry of HP single casks hit the shelves recently and the consensus seems to be that this is the best.
Ah same with me. Trying to cut back. No drinking on week days..an 8 day drinking stretch and a yersinia bug stuffed my gut and in my 4th decade I'm realizing I need to be gentler on my body! At least only 500 drams (20 something full bottles and 100 samples) to work through rather than your several thousand :-). No more sample or bottle buying until 2019 for me is the plan..
@Scott_E actually...I have. I’ve been getting ginger kombucha and having that in a glencairn every night. So much cheaper
@PBMichiganWolverine This whisky vice is literally that (lol). You may have to become a tea enthusiast instead. Softer on the wallet.
@Scott_E i forgot to mention...a whiskey show attendance has a 100% tax for every hour not spent with kids. So...a $50 WhiskyLive ticket is actually $50 x # of hours. @LeeEvolved @Telex @Generously_Paul —-good thing I wasn’t able to attend the DC Fest!
@Scott_E nothing escapes the luxury tax. That’s 400%.
@PBMichiganWolverine Does this escape the imposed luxury tax and truly cost you $200 (lol). Does sound pretty darn good, though.
