Jack Daniel's Tennessee Straight Rye
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed
November 4, 2018 (edited November 6, 2018)
Appearance: The color on this Tennessee styled rye was a darker tawny. The legs of the inside of the glass were medium sized and pretty oily.
Nose: On the nose I picked up a delectable assortment of caramel, oak, honey, wildflowers, and rye grain notes, (The smell reminded me a lot of how Four Roses smells.), with additional notes of black licorice, and dill. After I added a splash of water the nose was ruined and basically nothing but floral.
Taste: The palate definitely possessed a rye spiciness, some light dill, ginger, and a touch of cigar smoke and ash notes. But after I added a splash of water the palate also got really dull.
Finish: The finish was medium length; it was still spicy but not hot going down.
Thoughts: Jack made a good product with this one; and I would recommend this whiskey and would buy it for myself again! I enjoyed this dram! Thanks, Jack Daniel's! Keep up the good work! Cheers!

@BDanner , yes! Some Jack products I'm not a fan of, but I was pleasantly surprised by this rye!
@AntonioSchmid I agree that the Sinatra blend is very good. Just not sure it’s $150+ good.
@PBMichiganWolverine Not yet but I had a Single Barrel “Ducks Edition” that I got at the distillery and it was lovely. Don’t know how it differs from the regular one.
@AntonioSchmid have you tried their Single Barrel Barrel Strength? Really good, especially considering the price
@BDanner Haven’t tasted this one yet but also was pleasantly surprised when I first tasted the Sinatra Select. Made me buy a bottle and even the Sinatra Century when I saw it for the right price. (Haven’t tasted this one yet)
Jack has taken their game up a level. Their new Heritage cask is supposed to be really good too
Not a Jack fan myself, but this was good
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It is now one of my go to ryes.
