Weez

Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

I agree with the comment that it's a good value but would benefit from higher proof. I got this bottle and Elijah Craig 12 to try. Unimpressed with both. Just found it to be somewhat hot and ehhhhh flavor. Nothing interesting. Many more interesting choices out there. May be good as a mixer but doesn't do it for me as my nighttime sipper

I think Buffalo Trace and Makers Mark are solid through and through. My new favorites, which run in the $40-50 range are Blantons, EH Taylor, and Bookers. I realize that I like really full flavored bourbons. I will say the Elijah Craig improved after it sat for a few months opened. Then for cheap bourbon, I really like Watkins. It's like $15 a bottle and every time I drink

hey Weez, hope you don't mind me asking. i tried bourbon for the first time, this same EWSB 2005. i see you're not crazy about it, as well as the Elijah Craig. so, what brand or brands would you recommend for a "newbie" like me who wants something mild at a decent price?...thanks.
