A most interesting and complex whisky. Can’t say I love it, but I’m happy to keep trying to figure it out.
A rare scotch that also allows proof to provide a new level of complexity to the spirit, and concentration of flavors. Uncut it certainly does seem concentrated and bold.
Heavy smoke and salty-sweet. Intense and bold flavors from the batch proof. The nose is spent fireworks. Some sulfur mixed with sea, so a more “clean” smell. Perhaps lava sliding into the ocean.
There is a deep smoky char, but palatable. Liquid smoke. Has a strong drying component in the mouth.

Great review!
@deuce26 it’s definitely yummy - I just have to figure my preferences out and try to unpack all that flavor.
@deuce26 - I think I prefer it to the Uiggy. Both are fantastic NAS’ for sure.
@LeeEvolved thanks. I’ve hesitated with that one at the slightly higher price point. But sounds like I need to pull the trigger.
@deuce26 - if you’d prefer a bit of a sweeter take on this whisky I suggest the Corryvrecken. It brings more sherry into the mix with the same complexity and high ABV.
I find it’s a greatly balanced peated sherry finish whisky. Seems others have tried and failed. Love it.
