Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

For some, the peatiness is overpowering. But for the Isla taste that Lagavulin attempts to embody, it is in the top tier. The smoky tastes are not so overpowering that they shine out the peppery and woodsy flavors, but they still pack a punch. Would pair nicely in a cocktail with Mezcal and orange. Pairs most smoothly with a red meat that is not over seasoned and a starch heavy side dish.
