Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel Rye
Rye — West Virginia, USA

Single Barrel, 11 years, 114.4 proof, released 2018. Wow, great nose. Fruit and dill. Strong pickle juice on the palate, but balanced with a plethora of notes otherwise. Complex. Towards the end, dark chocolate and sour ale/lambic notes. Smooth for the proof. Long finish. Quality. 2/22/19

@PBMichiganWolverine - Smooth Ambler is doing the rye just like they do the Single Barrel bourbon- every year they bottle a batch.
11 yr rye?! You don’t see that often.
This is good to hear. I ponied up the $175 at the distillery for a bottle, too. I’ve been scared to open it thinking it wouldn’t deliver the goods. Great review. Cheers.
