A classic Scotland whiskey that should be consumed by all whiskey lover's.
Highland park does "peat" just right. Its the perfect balance of tannin's and smoke but not overwhelming for a beginner.
Nose - 4.5/5 A short but sweet Rollercoaster of butter scotch instantly followed by fresh ground coffee, slight brown sugar and very little mint. The smoke is robust but not medicinal. Peat done right!
Palate 4.25/5 - Peat right up front followed by red apples, honey roasted nuts, smoke ash, chocolate, slight sourdough and finishes with a lingering taste of malted barley and a strong but fine cigar.
Price 3.5/5
- Paid $60 after tax in PA. Surprisingly this is at 43% Abv here! Great choice but I'd say it should be priced at about $40-$47. Nonetheless a definite must try for all whiskey drinkers. Cheers!
