Taste: Neat in Glen Cairn, 2oz. Binny's Barrel Pick
Nose (3.25): Green banana and ethanol dominate at first. Gives way to some vanilla and newer oak. To me the nose seemed that of a newer bourbon.
Palate (3.00): A bit woody and somewhat acetone at first sip. Not my favorite first sip. Spicy pepper notes at the rear palate and some oak. I am not thrilled by this one. It is just ok, but not writing home about it. Might be good in a mixed drink
Finish (3.5): Finishes better than the taste. That green banana on the nose makes a return trip, some butterscotch notes linger. Considerably dry.
Overall: First, I am a bit of an Old Forester fan. I loved all four of the whiskey row, especially 1910 and 1920. This one didn't do it for me. Second, I prefer Statesman, 1920, 1910, 1897, and even the signature over it. Barrel not my profile? Maybe. Found it a bit "nail polish" remover like.

@dubz480 the last bottle left me snake bit. I wanted enjoy it but it was just so average. Binny's supposedly will have a few new barrels in the fall I was told. Going to give another pick a try
Definitely the barrel my man. They really vary quite a bit. I wouldn't write this expression off! Cheers!
@dubz480 happy upcoming father's day to you too. It may have just been the barrel that didn't appeal to me. I saw others rave about sone of these and pick some really nice flavors from it, but I didn't get that from this barrel.
Interesting. the SiB I have had I liked more than you did this one. I would say just a poor barrel. For sure it's up there with the non 1920 expressions when it's a good pick Cheers brother and happy father's day to you in advance!
