Edition 07 from 2017, Bottle 309/800, Regulo Martinez Parada
Nose is initially of pine nuts, a bit floral, very mineral, with notes of roasted agave poking though but becoming more apparent with more air time. The taste is extremely mineral with flashes of baking chocolate and very slightly minty. Finishes with more mineral, wet cement, and dirt/soil which fades into a long dusty finish not unlike an old book.

@PBMichiganWolverine most EJ are a hit. My fav so far is the Tepextate and Mexicano. I have most of the lineup but haven’t opened all of them yet. Still on the hunt for the Arroqueño.
@KRB80 so seems like a bit if oxidation helps in this case. Can’t seem to find this one—might have to wait till the next batch becomes available
@PBMichiganWolverine yes, absolutely for the better.
@KRB80 is that for the better? Personally I love mango, but wasn’t sure if the change is for the better than original?
I meant mango, not papaya.
@PBMichiganWolverine I revisited this last night and, holy shit, has it changed already! All them off notes are gone but a faint mustiness and replaced with pure papaya (nearer the skin) and rose water.
@PBMichiganWolverine I also have the DM version and it’s WAY different. It’s what I expect a Karwinski to taste like. This batch is completely out in left field and not at all what I was expecting. Generally, EJ > DM but comparing the two batches I have, I prefer the DM flavor profile as you can see from my earlier review. Well see how it changes along the course of the bottle’s life. Worth the money? Nope although it’s definitely interesting and I feel like it would pair well with a good cheese platter.
Sounds like this wasn’t worth the money? I have the Del Maguey version of this...wondering if it’s the Mezcalero or the agave
