Ledaig 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland

It’s Ledaig week here at Modern Drinking HQ, as I attempt to get through a backlog of samples from the Isle of Mull. Kicking things off with a revisit of the 10, which is even more impressive the second time around in terms of flavor, balance and value for money. Worthy of space in any collection.

@PBMichiganWolverine - I will have to wait until the second week of September before I find out what I’ll be working- they are changing the schedule around as we transition to 12-hour work days. I work at a manufacturing facility that runs 24/7, so I won’t know my new work hours until then. I’m scheduled for vacation the week of Sept 23, so there’s a good chance I’ll be required to work the weekend leading up to it. If I can make it I will plan on bringing 3-4 new bottles to open along with 2-3 high end bottles I currently have open: Macallan Oscuro and HP21
@PBMichiganWolverine Epic. I have a few independent bottlings in mind.
@Richard-ModernDrinking @LeeEvolved I’m lining up TWE Ledaig Past/Future , Balblair 1990, and 2-3 more—-probably some if the Elements of Islay laphroiags or something
@LeeEvolved If you can join us in NJ on Sept 20 I am sure we can get him to open at least a couple of them
@LeeEvolved that should be a DD episode
@Richard-ModernDrinking - yeah, I’d probably go nuts if I had free rein over a whisky cabinet of that size. That said, I keep hoping that @PBMichiganWolverine will make me that offer one day, too. Meet him at his storage facility and hear him say “have at it...”. That continues to be my dream, at least lol.
@1901 I didn’t get the salt on either occasion. I’ll keep a taste bud primed for it next time as I like a bit of that with my peat.
@PBMichiganWolverine The vintage stuff cost extra, though you got one pour for free. I blew mine on a Springbank.
I was curious as to what you would think of this and glad you liked it. Not too salty for you anyway.?
@Richard-ModernDrinking cool—I’ll bring that over. I have that in an easy to find location
@Richard-ModernDrinking wow seriously ? I’d head straight for the Ardbegs and Broras
@LeeEvolved I think I showed restraint. I mean, what would you do if the Whisky Exchange threw open its doors and said drink what you want? That’s pretty much the format of their show.
@Richard-ModernDrinking - “100th drink of the DAY”...color me impressed.
@PBMichiganWolverine I do not have that and would be thrilled to try it with you. I’m pretty sure I had a taste at the TWE show but I have no recollection of it because Ledaig wasn’t on my radar at the time and it was almost certainly the 100th drink of the day.
@cascode Think I’ll save the Tobermory for another week. I have enough samples of both to justify separate flights.
One of the bottles I was going to bring over for our Sept tasting was that TWE Ledaig “Past Future” or whatever they called it. Have you had that in this lineup? If you did, I’ll leave it out
@Richard-ModernDrinking "Ledaig week", huh? Sounds like music to my ears. Any Tobermory in that tasting batch?
