I'll excuse the waitress for offering me the "Pappy 10 Year" because she was knowledgeable enough about bourbons to offer similar taste profiles when they were out of my first choice. It's not a true "Pappy" but I'll let it slide.
Served to me at about a 3oz pour in a rocks glass. Got tons of butterscotch and caramel on the nose, which became even more fragrant as it opened up in the glass. Taste was smooth and silky, true to the Buffalo Trace mash bill. Vanilla, caramel, raisins, and definite oak on the palate. Finish was every so slightly hotter than I was expecting, but enjoyable with lingering Graham crackers and maybe a raisin or two.
I'd buy this bottle, but I'm unsure yet if I'd do so at secondary prices. This is superior to me than OWA 107, but given the market right now, I'd probably opt for the OWA. However, that doesn't detract from my belief that this bourbon provides quite the enjoyable experience and I'd gladly partake again.
Just don't tell me it's Pappy. :)
