This is my 3rd or 4th time tasting this and I still can’t figure it out.
On the nose I get carmel and some fruit like bananas. Maybe a tiny bit of vanilla and some woody notes.
Sipping I get a lot more oak and nuts on top of the fruity, banana-y, flavors. It’s quite smooth. I didn’t love it at first but it has grown on me. I recently tried a Hayes Parker bourbon and was pretty disappointed. Unfortunately, this is reminiscent of that. However I think I’m getting over it and learning to appreciate this EW Single Barrel for what it is.
For the price, it’s a great 8 year packed with taste. I don’t love earthy bourbons, but this one seems to grow on me as I give it more chances.
