The great thing about sampling is it saves you loads on buying a bottle and giving the vast majority away. These days unless I really like it it gets donated pretty quick. I've been trying to work through my collection before I die or retire whatever comes first so it's been a year before I last bought a bottle. The dam finally broke last month with Benriach 17 yr Solstice, then soon after Redbreast 21, Port Charlotte 10 (excellent duty free deals) and now I'm on a 4 pronged mission. Stock up on Glendronach 18 b4 its extinct, add the Caol Ila 18 to my collection (also suddenly expensive and harder to get in NZ) try the latest potstill chestnut whiskey (here's looking at you Method and Madness) and add a bourbon to my collection. It came down to this or Noah's Mill. I would have to say it's not even close. NM smokes this one out of the park IMHO. This goes down very easy for abv but find very sweet and not a lot going on. Nothing offensive (I can tolerate the spearmint) but that's the problem...just quite inoffensive. NM it is....

@Soba45 very much appreciate the heads up. I'll be gunning for one of these now!

@Whiskey_Hound Oh and having checked most places are now out in NZ so I pulled the trigger quick! Doubt I'll get this quality for $100 again.
@Whiskey_Hound Not to sure exactly what is happening but Master of Malt informed customers they could no longer get hold of any from their suppliers. Whiskey exchange is also out and even here in NZ places are sold out. I suspect we have reached the cut over between the much older than 18 yr stock they were using due to the distillery being closed from 1996 to 2001 to stock from 2001. Currently the 18 year is more like 23 to 24 years old. They are probably temporary withdrawing it like they did the 15 year, waiting for a couple of years and relaunching..maybe. Stock up whilst the good stuff is still around!
@Soba45 What's this about Glendronach 18 being discounted?
@dubz480 Cheers. Yeah I got caught out with the 15 yr vs Johnny Drum yonks ago. LOVED the sample then bought a bottle which looked the same except on inspection the 15 yr had been dropped off. Sneaky!
Spot on. Rare Breed is just simple tasty Bourbon. Not complex just plain nice and powerful. I enjoy Noah's Mill as well. Depending on how long ago you got samples it should be similar. The older bottles carried a 15 yr age statement the newer ones are NAS
