Shackleton Blended Malt
Blended Malt — highlands, Scotland

A hint of smokey brine with pears and apples on the nose, same on the oily palate, the finish is medium length with a little heat and slightly more smoke. A splash of water added a hint if floral note to the nose, made the palate slightly creamy, and brought out some pepper on the finish.

@jdriip some bravery and fortitude! I read Lansing's book about that voyage a few years ago.
@1901 very interesting reading about the failed Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition
@PBMichiganWolverine good to know. I must watch the discovery channel programme to find out more
@1901 and this is one whiskey where the backstory and marketing is warranted
I have my eye on this for a while. More because of my interest in Shackleton than this Patterson blend. His leadership during the Endurance voyage is inspirational.
