So I tried the trick where you have a piece of dark chocolate with the Lagavulin. I must say, wow. The whisky is transformed. The overpowering band-aids flavor drops way into the background, and more fruity notes come forward. I'm rather shocked.
While still not my favorite Scotch, pairing with dark chocolate at least makes it an enjoyable experience.
