Honey sweet on the nose, very floral and herbal. Bit of vanilla as well. This really jumps out the glass! It is nutty and spicy then turns towards a very oaky finish. The finish is almost smoky. Really really strong and interesting, this is a far cry from the light delicacy Japanese whiskey is known for.
