Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon

Simple nose of cinnamon, orange zest, and leather. But complex palate of Carmel, Vanilla, Spearmint, citrus zest, sweet oak spice, barrel char, tobacco and vanilla icing with cherry pie filling coming in and out. Really enjoy the sweet tobacco tones in the finish. It’s spicy and prickly and although there are Wild Turkey products that are more nuanced and yet balanced. I enjoy this bold and unrefined feel of this whiskey as it brings some unique flavors to the mix. It’s a bit of a thinker but I have enjoyed the ride.

I found the Camp Nelson F single barrels from floor 6 to be very nuanced and balanced. Also any Russell’s product from Rickhouse G is really good. Consistently complex but yet balanced. I also like wild turkey Kentucky spirit picks from the mid floors 4\5 of D. Hope that helps
Hi ctbeck11!
I completely agree with your review and really enjoyed this bourbon. I’m interested in the other more nuanced and balanced WTs you referenced. Could you let me know which others you’re referencing? I’m looking to try some different expressions of the brand.
