Calumet Farm 10 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon (Bull Lea)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 26, 2026Price was really cheap on this one all the way down to 46 bucks. Nose is satisfying. Banana runts, sugar, and Rolo's candy. Palate is sweet with carmel, vanilla, banana and some cherry licorice. Finish is where the oak shines and yet it doesn't get dry. Good Barton juice here and watch for it if it on discount like it is around here. -
Nose: Super Challenging. Sweet and funky. It smells like a mop in a bucket with a splash of Mr. Clean. Floral scent is strong and it smells like fresh lilacs. Way in the back there is a smell that reminds me of potting soil that has been sitting in the Greenhouse for quite some time. Palate: This is a full proof product and it is hot for me. Lavender flavor similar to like a strong tea. Finish : More floral on the finish and there is a sour note or almost like a pickled cucumber note. Not my favorite but it is not boring. I will give it some points for that aspect.

Nose: Barley Sugar is dominant in a bright type of way. Juicy fruit bubble gum, saddle leather, apple cider, vanilla and giner round out what is an excellent nose. Palate: Sweet sugar, pepper, ginger, apple, pear and vanilla all can be found. Its a little disappointing coming off the nose. Finish: Shorter but very pleasant with cinamon and candy apple red flavor which is enjoyable.

Maybe because I had low expectations going into this, I am pleasantly surprised. Keeping this distillate in oak for 7 years really rounds out what I consider to be a rough ride with the OGD 114. This is a great proof point for this product and the age helps it out greatly to sand off the edges allowing more flavors to appear throughout the experience. I paid 45 bucks but wish I would have grabbed the last one on the shelf as I've not been able to get it here in my neighborhood. Nose: I get fruits like strawberry, orange and Honeycrisp apple and vanilla but some oak weaving in and out makes it a truly great experience to sniff. Every once in a while I will pick up a little mint from the higher rye mashbill. Then after it rests for a few minutes I do get some corn chex mix cereal in there as well. Palate: Very pleasant mandarin oranges come to the forefront on this one. Then it moves into a heavy vanilla and then chocolate, nut and orange flavor. Finish: It lasts a while with me as the viscosity is rather creamy and slowly warms the chest. Classic sweet oak remains and hangs on with a nice citrus tang. Good stuff and good idea by Beam here. Now they need to replicate this batch and continue to get more of it out there. It is so much better than the other OGD offerings and just blows away Basil Hayden's. Old school label is spot on too as it looks great and fun to try with friends.
