Johnnie Walker Blue Label
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed

Johnnie Walker Blue presents campfire smoke, vanilla, and leather scents to the nose. The mouth feel is thin, with oaky notes of vanilla, rawhide leather, and a hint of orange slice candy. The finish is short with spice, leather, and a hint of peanut. This is my personal favorite of the Johnnie Walker series. I’m not a Scotch snob and don’t mind a good blend. This is a scotch that you won’t believe is blended when you taste it. Unfortunately, the price point may not be justified even though it is quality.

@cascode I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said, and great point about the components!
Certainly one of the high points of the JW range, although I’d disagree that it’s not like a blend. For me, at least, it exemplifies a great blend with silken texture and superb balance. It’s not really overpriced when you realise the quality of the components but I agree with @PBMichiganWolverine that at a much lower price the Green Label blended malt is just as good, arguably better. The biggest thing going against Blue Label is the ingrained popular perception of it as nothing more than a status gift.
@PBMichiganWolverine that’s next on my list. I’ve been told that. I’ll post a taste soon! Thanks.
@BeppeCovfefe try the Green Label. Personally, I thought that was even better than the Blue...at a fraction of the price
This is the one Johnnie Walker I actually find desirable to drink, and yes it's priced to make sure that won't happen very often.
@driggersjason ugh.
@BDanner I’ve done that on two separate occasions. It led to my ruin. I had to purchase.
I have been really tempted to pick up a 50ml of this for $20 to try it. Afraid I might really like it. Then what?
