This is a solid Rye whiskey that is overpriced for the quality and flavor you get. During the virus lockdown, I have not been buying or reviewing as much as I wanted to. Also, one of the biggest changes I did make is that I got a set of Glencairn glasses. I want to thank BDanner and others that recommended that I use it to taste spirits. Now I bought Michter's Rye, Knob Creek Rye, and Pikesville Rye around the same time and really did not start drinking them until recently. Michter's Rye has a cool classic bottle and a dark mahogany appearance and clings to the sides of the glass nicely. The nose is sweet and spicey with a touch of citrus and herbal with dill popping up. Vanilla and oak make their presence known as well. The body is a bit of a letdown as it is thinner than the nose promises. The rye is there on the body and it just does not last as long as I thought it would. I could taste the vanilla still and candy-like sweetness like good butterscotch or caramel but again it does not last very long. The finish is a decent spice and ethanol burn but short of the three ryes, I tried this had the shortest finish. Overall, this is a solid rye whiskey but overpriced for an 84.8 proof spirit. Of the three bottles, I bought this one came in third due to the cost and flavor profile and strength. I like the bottle but it is $42 in my area. I like Rittenhouse, Old Overholt, and Sazerac as my daily ryes to drink or have in the bar. Enjoy.
