Heaven Hill White Label (80 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2024 (edited November 22, 2024)I bought this bourbon a while ago as I do not see it often in my area and I think I paid about $12 for it. The nose is ethanol with vanilla, baking spice, and some wood but it is not unpleasant. It reminds me of a milder version of Jim Beam white label. The body is pleasant with vanilla and very smooth oak notes. The body is longer than I expected for such a low cost bourbon. The finish is nice but short. In cocktails this bourbon is good but not great. It gets lost in an Old Fashioned and Manhattan but it is only 80 proof. In bourbon and cokes it is fine. I enjoy this over ice when I just want a easy drinking bourbon. Overall, I like this bourbon and will continue to look for it. Enjoy.12.0 USD per Bottle -
Blackland Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 23, 2024 (edited November 6, 2024)I have seen this a often in my local liqueor store but I have never bought it until this weekend. I was first introduced to Blackand in Louisana with their gin offering which was very nice and the bottle is nice enough to be a decanter. On the website there is not a lot of information, and it is a blend of bourbons. On the nose this is soft with notes of vanilla, caramel, and hints of sweet corn. That is the first time I have found that in a whiskey. The body was better than I expected for a low proof whiskey with nice vanilla sweetness. The finish is much long than I would expect but that is a good thing. In cocktails like the Old Fashioned and whiskey and coke the whiskey holds up very well. Overall, this is a nice whiskey that is not easy to find in my area but I think it is worth trying. Enjoy.40.0 USD per Bottle -
Soldier Valley True American Vodka
Unflavored Vodka — La Vista, NE, USA
Reviewed August 26, 2024 (edited September 7, 2024)I bought this a little while ago and just forgot to review this sooner. To start with I love the bottle as it is shaped like the old style canteen and it rocks. The vodka is solid and smooth. On the nose it is sweet with a hint of ethonal but it is not harsh. The body is easy and not harsh. The finish is nice but there is a little hint of bitterness, but it is not to unpleasant. It mixes well with everything I have made like a Vodka Martini, Harvey Wallbanger, and Bloody Mary. The vodka is very solid that can be kind of hard to find. However, if you do find it give it a try at worse you will get a cool bottle. Enjoy.20.0 USD per Bottle -
Pendleton Whisky Military Edition
Blended — Canada
Reviewed August 22, 2024 (edited August 23, 2024)I bought this a while back after have a few drinks with a friend from work and I am glad I did. This is a solid Canadian whisky that is very easy to drink neat or on the rocks. On the nose it is smooth and gentle with notes of vanilla and a hint of ethonal. The body is light and smooth with a little more of the vanilla and some woody notes and a longer finish than I expected from an 80 proof whisky. I made a few drinks with the Pendleton's like an Old Fashioned, Whisky Highball, and Whisky and coke. It's too soft to make a good Old Fashioned, but the Highball and coke were both good drinks. While writing this piece I tasted this vs Rich and Rare Reserve and I still like it better than Pendleton but it is close. I also like that the company has a military version that donates a portion of each bottle to the Bob Woodruff foundation to help veterans and their families after they leave the service. Overall, it is a good Canadian whisky that is very easy to drink. Enjoy.25.0 USD per Bottle -
I bought this a long time ago and forgot to review back then and today when I found the bottle I had to do a quick review. The nose is classic bourbon notes with some oak and vanilla being the most dominate. The body is light and sweet with the oak smoothing out and the vanilla and caramel moving up to the front. The finish is a little short but there is no bitterness or negative tastes. It make a solid Old Fashioned but only a marginal Manhattan. Overall, it is good but not great I do like the fact that it is from a small distillery in NC and has a classic looking bottle I think a few more point of proof would be great. Enjoy.30.0 USD per Bottle

When I first heard about this whiskey I was very excited to try it and I was not dissapointed in it. The nose is sweet with vanilla and oak. It does have a different scent from their bourbons and ryes but it is very nice. The body is smooth with oak, vanilla, and a light fruity note. The finish is long and smooth. In cocktails it makes a very nice Old Fashioned with the whiskey holding up well in the drink. I really like this whiskey and I am glad that Bulleit is expanding their offerings this is a good addition in my bar as it is different enough to offer a change of pace. I did have a friend that likes scotch more than bourbon likes this as well since it is less sweet than bourbon. Enjoy.60.0 USD per Bottle

I picked up this bourbon a little while ago and I am just now getting around to reviewing this. I have seen the brand online and at the liqueor store but this is the first one of their products I have bought. The nose in a Norlan glass is sweet vanilla and a cake like scent. There is also a little hint of ethanol. The body is very nice with vanilla, caramel, and oak notes. The body does last for a good while and the finish is woody and smooth. I have made several types of Old Fashioned drinks and a Whiskey Sours and this is a wonderful bourbon. I am looking forward to trying their other offerings. I will be adding this to my bar because it is a solid sipper and it makes a very good cocktail. Enjoy.30.0 USD per Bottle

Military Special Ultra Premium Vodka
Unflavored Vodka — USA
Reviewed May 8, 2024 (edited July 5, 2024)So to start with I knew going in that this was not going to be a good vodka but I wanted to try it just to see if it is bad and soldiers have said it is. On the nose, it is a typical vodka just ethanol. The body is where the good and the bad show up. It is kind of sweet and a little bit oily but near the end, there is a strong bitterness that shows up and is the only flavor left in my mouth. That is the finish bitterness. In mixed drinks, it does its job and it will get you drunk if you drink enough. This is made for lower enlisted soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines to get drunk with very little money. Drink this at your own discretion.12.0 USD per Bottle -
Milagro Silver Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 6, 2024 (edited July 5, 2024)I bought this tequila a little while ago and I am finally sitting down to review it. When I bought this I was looking for an inexpensive silver tequila to use for cocktails and this one is a great one for that job. It has a mildly earthy nose with a touch of ethanol. The body is light and a little fruity but very clean. The finish is short and smooth with no bitterness. The two drinks I used this for were the Margarita and the Ranch Water and it excelled with both of these. The Margarita was tart and clean while the Ranch Water is now my favorite hot weather drink and is delicious. This is an easy yes for the cost and the versatility. Enjoy.22.0 USD per Bottle -
The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin
Modern Gin — Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2024 (edited November 20, 2024)On a recent business trip I found this really nice Scottich Gin. This gin is a very gentile and soft gin with the juniper notes being soft and the other flavors to raise to the front. The nose is a mix of juniper and ethanol but those give way to citrus and coriander. The body is not bad with a little burn but the earthy herbs come out here and with a little ice the gin is softened nicely. The finish is quick with citrus and earthy notes. On the trip I made several Gin and Tonics which were very nice, but the gin had a tendency to be washed out. I also made several Negroni's with this gin and it did well with the flavors. My only complaint is that the gin is a little under proofed other than that it is a solid and flavorful gin. Overall, it is a good but not great gin but it is worth a try. Enjoy.35.0 USD per Bottle
