Like the 10yr and Lasanta, was looking forward to this. Poured neat, ruby color with nose of berries. Black & raz both coming through with good malt presence. Has a strawberry cheesecake note that reminds me of Chivas Extra. Creamy mouthfeel leads into palate of dark fruit, malt richness and roasted coffee surrounded by barrel oak. Very nice depth. Finish is drying oak, malt, trailing fruits with more light roast coffee. Overall an excellent scotch. Strong maltiness and deep fruits only the dry finish holds it back from upper level elite score. I like it more than Dalmore12 and would need to revisit Lasanta to call that one ..........86/100.....$44 at Total Wine, will keep this one around for a delicious port cask finished single malt

I doubt i would rate this as high now after having so many other great scotches. Just got a bottle of the Lasanta and it was not as good as I remembered
Love the 10, didn’t much care for the Lasanta. Next stop is the Quinta with high hopes, based on your review
@Ctrexman good to know. It’s affordable enough I feel like I should grab an extra just in case the 14 truly isn’t quite as good (can’t believe I’m saying that about an increased age statement, haha).
@bigwhitemike Yeah I still am finding both...havent had the 14 either
Great review! 100% with the fact that the finish holds this back, but it’s otherwise an extremely good value
Are you still finding the 12-yr (black box) in the wild? I had assumed most places would only have the 14-yr (green box) replacement at this point. I really like the 12; it’s a nearly perfect finish for the sweet and creamy and gently floral, but largely blank, canvas of the 10-yr morangie (minus that slightly dry finish I have also observed). I like the port finish notably more than the Lasanta’s sherry. I feel like there are many better sherried options, even near the same price range, some having spent their full lives in sherry casks... but port finishes are still uncommon so it’s nice to have an affordable standout. I have not tried the new 14 yr Quinta Ruban although surprisingly heard that it is less rich than the old 12. Perhaps they’d moved to a longer aging to (try to) compensate for a more dilute cask finishing - more refills, or larger port pipes?
