Aroma: Fresh oak, caramel, toffee, some vanilla, cloves, black pepper, char, peppermint, dark chocolate, raisins, prunes, cherries, and some brown sugar.
Taste: strong oak, candied apples, char, a little chili pepper, cinnamon, black pepper, toffee, and oranges.
Finish: wood sugars, syrupy caramel, strong oak, cinnamon, char, apricot and burnt caramel. Feels warm going down and leaves a satisfying aftertaste of lingering spices and oak, nothing harsh.
There is a lot of stuff going on here, really diverse bourbon with plenty of notes to go around. But the dominating oak flavor that Woodford gives out really brings it all together into a fine balance of both a barrel and flavorful creativity.
