Nose: oak, butterscotch, caramel, clove, little bit of vanilla, pepper, leather, lemon. Body: really tasting the leather, oak, and pepper. Mostly bitter, masks over the other sweet notes such as the vanilla, caramel, and maple syrup. Finish: Medium, bitter and spicy, can taste the leather mask the entire palette and throat. Tingly. Also tasting a lot of rye. Overall a hot bourbon with a very predominant leathery note, while sweeter notes take a backseat to the bitterness.45.0 USD per Bottle

Aroma: Fresh oak, caramel, toffee, some vanilla, cloves, black pepper, char, peppermint, dark chocolate, raisins, prunes, cherries, and some brown sugar. Taste: strong oak, candied apples, char, a little chili pepper, cinnamon, black pepper, toffee, and oranges. Finish: wood sugars, syrupy caramel, strong oak, cinnamon, char, apricot and burnt caramel. Feels warm going down and leaves a satisfying aftertaste of lingering spices and oak, nothing harsh. There is a lot of stuff going on here, really diverse bourbon with plenty of notes to go around. But the dominating oak flavor that Woodford gives out really brings it all together into a fine balance of both a barrel and flavorful creativity.39.99 USD per Bottle

Aroma: Oaky and sweet. Butterscotch, honey, oak, spices, and green apple. Taste: Sweet and perfumey. Corn, oak, and tasting some cinnamon too. Finish: Smooth, both a leathery and sweet aftertaste, buttery linger, and slight sting from the alcohol. I'm no stranger to strong alcohol, but I don't find this bourbon to be very pleasant to drink. The price is okay if you just want something on the lower shelves to have, but I feel it's too perfumey and unbalanced to simply drink and not think much about it. Also, for just a regular bourbon, the oak is underwhelming but a liking for stronger oak may just be my preference.26.99 USD per Bottle

Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill Cabernet Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 17, 2019Aroma: wine grapes, dried cherries, dark berries, figs, vanilla, and slight chocolate. Sweet and fruity. Taste: Quite full/chewy. Taste the cabernet/grapes. Pretty much all the notes in the aroma are present in the taste, although I can taste some brown sugar, butterscotch, allspice, and honey too. Finish: Very smooth, tiny burn in the back of throat. Can really taste the cabernet/grapes. This bourbon is decent, but it's definitely not worth the price. Perhaps those that like sweeter stuff would like this, but I feel there's not enough oak and too much sweetness that's not balanced out. Also oddly very bitter upon finish.59.99 USD per Bottle -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2019 (edited September 23, 2023)Aroma: cherries, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, raisin. Florescent, herbal, fruity, and spicy, but altogether fairly subtle. Taste: Quite spicy. White pepper and cherries lead the palette, and the taste itself isn't as sweet as what the aroma may suggest. Other notes of salt, oak, and woody spices. Has a kick, but the other notes balance this bourbon finely. Finish: Leather and oak smoothly finalize this bourbon, and leaves a tingly, spicy linger. Warm and not too overwhelming, just right. While it may be somewhat deceiving, there are a multitude of different notes that have strong personalities but holistically compromise to what is probably bearable for most. In other words, it works out in the end.34.99 USD per Bottle -
Aroma: Mainly caramel, cherries, and peaches. Also smelling some different types of chocolate, along with vanilla, raisins, figs, grapes, apple. and roasted nuts. Needless to say, it smells pretty sweet. Oak seems somewhat underwhelming. Taste: Taste is quite sweet, tastes like a jam or some sort of fruit spread. I'm tasting grapes, raisins, figs, dates, plums, cherries, and brown sugar for the sweet part. Along with the vanilla, oak, and leather. Finish: Somewhat short to moderate finish. Can really taste the sherry effect that they were going for with all those fruits, and sort of transitions to roasted almonds and other nuts. Little to no burn. Overall, it's somewhat perfumey and sweeter than it needs to be. Those sweet flavors seem to overwhelm the oak and other more subdued notes, however it is an okay bourbon with its very unique take.39.99 USD per Bottle

Reviewed September 24, 2019 (edited October 14, 2019)Aroma: spices, brown sugar, spearmint, sweet vanilla, oak, cinnamon, maple syrup, toast, and char. Taste: hot cinnamon and spices, spearmint, brown sugar, raisins, dates, pepper, vanilla, and perhaps some birthday cake. Has a nice kick from the alcohol. Finish: cinnamon transits to a smooth, relaxing vanilla and spices warmly tingle the tongue. I like this bourbon quite a lot for such a well-known brand. Has a lot of personality and action on the palette and overall.49.99 USD per Bottle -
