The first whisky I ever had as a kid was the 18 year fine oak triple cask which I remember being blown away by. It got me into whiskies and since then I’ve had thousands of drams but haven’t had the Mac 18 sherry yet. The nose on this 12 is brilliant. Strong nuttiness, dried fruits and sherry sweetness. Smooth finish with a medium length. Is the 18 worth it compared to this 12? Idk but for the massive price difference the 12 has to be your normal go to for Macallan. I know Glendronach is cheaper for higher aged malts (18 and parliament 21) compared to Macallan but Macallan is still tremendously excellent. You pay for the entirety of how they operate and it doesn’t disappoint regardless of what you pay. 95/100
