Counting down the remaining samples..No. 6. Benriach 25. I was definitely not impressed on first sip but I took cascode's advice and waited for an hour and it definitely opened up a fair bit. Still the aftertaste is a bit herbal and bitter which definitely detracts. The initial taste has more of a green white pepper wooden caramel thing going on. I've never been a fan of the std benriach age statements and this doesn't really change things to much in that respect.

@cascode I think it's just not a profile that appeals to me much but a lot of others seem to like it. I much prefer the different wood finishes they do; port, sherry etc and their peated expressions. I think all in all the underlying unpeated spirit doesn't resonate with me that much unlike say a Glendronach.
I wonder how much of my highish rating for this was due to the fact that it was the last in a tasting flight of 6 BenRiach whiskies, so my palate had become used to the spicy BenRiach character by then, and in comparison to the earlier expressions it seemed way softer.
